Why freeze-dry?

FD-series industrial freeze dryer is high-quality freeze-drying equipment; fresh raw product processing capacity of single machines are from 50kg to 5 tons per batch. And the freeze-drying time is shorter compared with other freeze dryers, due to it adopted 160W/m-K high efficiency thermal transfer radiant heating plates and trays. It allows high-quality freeze-dried production based on eutectic point and co-melting point, and ensure no melt-back or collapse of the product; it also allows fast and efficient lyophilization to minimum production cost and maximum profit.

Process of freeze drying:
1, Fresh product pre-processing: peeling, cutting or crushing into pulp.
2, Pre-processed product must be frozen before freeze-drying. In FD-series, it can be frozen in the machine (all-in-one type), or in blast freezer.
3, Freeze-drying: a process of ice sublimation in a vacuum pressure, with refrigeration for vapor condensing and heating for continuous sublimation.
4, Packing the freeze-dried products in a dry room with suitable packing bags.

Application of FD-series:
The FD-series freeze dryer can process any kind of products you can imagine, including food, pets treats, nutraceutical, biological, extract, herbal, oral medicines, except injection and infusion pharmaceutical products.

Freeze-dried input and output:
Fresh product input capacity is loading capacity. Most products can be loaded at their 100% loading ratio, except hallow or sponge light products like scallion, cannabis, flowers. The standard loading ratio is 10 kg/m2 or 10 liter/m2.
The output capacity is various, depending on how many percent of solid matters are there in the fresh product.

Moisture residential in the dried product is less than 1%-3%. Less moisture content in the freeze-dried product, longer shelf life. The price of freeze-dried product decided by the price of raw material, production cost and output percentage.

Features of FD-series:
FD-series is the optimized freeze-drying system based on traditional freeze dryers made of stainless-steel chambers and top brand accessories, with more sizes available. FD-series is widely used in all kinds of industries for thousands of big international companies.
Energy saving:
We offer energy saving options and electricity saving kits for different users whom might really need them, especially in the region where electricity is very expensive. Take FD-500 as an example, the standard installed power is 83kW at 50Hz, and with electricity saving kits, the installed power can be reduced to 42kW, without prolonging the production time. It saved 49.39% by a crazy electricity saving solution.
Although it saved energy, it still much more efficient in production than traditional contacting freeze dryers. In the case where the sublimation pressure cannot be lowered further, it is especially important to increase the vapor condensation efficiency and increase the heat transfer efficiency. The scientific and reasonable "flow guidance" design and efficient heat transfer in a vacuum environment are all helpful to improve the production efficiency of freeze-drying. This is what we have achieved in the FD series. With specific configurations, to process specific product, a batch of sublimation can be finished within 12 hours, without affecting product quality.
Small and medium size, is integrated structure, all accessories assembled together with freeze dryer chamber, tested before delivery. It’s ready for use, no installation cost. And it is convenient to use. Operators only need to load the product into the machine, and start “Auto Operate” mode, that’s all for today, and come again next day for unloading and packing. Large sized freeze dryers equipped with rail and trolley for fast transporting products from loading area, to blast freezer, chamber, unloading area and packing area. As for large chambers, there will be 2 units of touch screen, one of them are designed at the front chamber near the door. The operators can easily reach it after the door is closed. If the operators do not understand English or Chinese, they may select Spanish or Russian as the first language.

Safety and to operators:
If the operators do not know the technology of freeze-dried, no matter. They may select “Auto Operate” mode; the program will be running automatically. And the operators do not need to worry about the machine status, because there are self-checking and shelf-protecting program in the machine. In case there is a failure, the machine will be stopped for a protection. The operators are free from any risks of explosion, combustion and electric shock. We have more easy-approaching consideration during design, like the height of trays loading, and aisle for operators to walk into.

To technicians:
FD-series have been installed in more than 50 countries, meeting the required installation regulations which covered most of the developed countries. In high-altitude areas, you need to tell us in advance that the machine will be equipped with a motor suitable for high altitudes. Refrigerants are environment friendly types, such as R448A, R449A, R404A, R507A. No damage to the ozone layer, and carbon emissions can meet the relevant standards. To develop new freeze-dried products, you may use both “constant” or “step heating” to make your own recipes, and save the recipes in the system with different names like “Banana Cookie”, “Coffee”, “Yogurt” etc. You can apply patents for your own innovative freeze-dried products. To make sure that the quality of each batch is the same, only the technician can enter the system to set production parameters. And the historical production data and graph picture can be recorded, saved in the system and can be downloaded to your computer for backup.

To director:
We offer mobile phone App monitoring and controlling the equipment as an option. It composed of hardware for data collection from PLC and software to support on the mobile phone App, and the third-party Cloud Server for store and share data in real time. The director or technician can monitor and control the equipment in real time at anywhere. Our 2nd generation mobile phone App monitoring and controlling software can be updated online.
Industrial computer remote control is another option. The third option is to control the equipment on your ERP system in your company by OPC-UA. You can collect production and stock data in real time for easy management, which is suitable for large companies.

FD three main technologies – Refrigeration and Cooling
In FD equipment, both products and cold trap (vapor condenser) need to be cooled with an ultra-low temperature. Freon refrigeration system is the mainstream, and ammonia was widely, and optional nowadays. CO2 refrigeration technology is promising in future. Liquid nitrogen can be used to cool product. It takes few minutes for product cooling only. External cooling for refrigerant by air or water. If the water is hard, a closed cooling tower will be an ideal solution. If the weather is very hot, evaporative cooling tower is an option. Product cooling by in situ freezing or blast freezer, we offer both options.

FD three main technologies – Vacuum
Vacuum is essential for freeze-drying. There is a big amount of vapor sublimated from products. The vapor would cause the increase of pressure. Oil-bathed vacuum pump is not the best choice for freeze-drying application. Oil-free vacuum pump is the best choice. We offer different vacuum solutions for our users.

FD three main technologies – Heating
Heating can be directly by electrical resistance or through liquid to transfer the heat to heating plates. The heat resources can be electricity, steam generated by any types of energy: natural gas, coal, wood, electricity. or solar energy, air energy, or geothermal water or heat recovery from other equipment. Conductive, radiant, far infrared, microwave heat transfer ways are put into practice. The effective ways are adopted.

All HL and PL series, and part of FD and EL series freeze dryers are “all-in-one” type. All support systems like refrigeration, vacuum, heating and control have been assembled on the same frame with chamber, all pipes, wires, valves have been installed and connected. They do not need installation service at the customers factory.

Large and medium sized industrial freeze dryers are tested in our factory. The pipes are disconnected during delivery. Installation is required, especially for those models with an overhead monorails or floor double rails.

We have many installation technicians in China and other 6 technical support centers. As for large and medium freeze-drying plant, you need a layout in advance for a better plan of the equipment in your factory. Here is an example of several units of FD-2500. Each machine is produced by KEMOLO, brand new, complete and flawless, it contains all necessary parts for freeze drying.
They are not exactly the same in structure, due to series and options difference, however the function is the same: vacuum freeze-dried.

We have five stages quality control job to do by different departments to ensure good quality of our freeze-drying equipment.
1, Select suppliers according to company standards, and full-time quality control personnel check incoming raw materials and accessories.
2, QC personnel check the welding quality and pressure test of shelves, vapor condenser, and chamber.
3, QC personnel check pressure test of refrigeration, heating, vacuum systems.
4, The commissioning personnel do the FAT test. QC verify record it.
5, The sales personnel check whether the equipment is consistent with the contract requirements one by one.
Certificates: We have ISO9001, CE, ASME, EAC, FDA. Other certificates can be applied with an extra cost.

FD-series: The warranty period of the whole machine is 24 months.
HL, EL, PL series: The warranty period of the whole machine is 12 months.
A box of spare parts is sent to users free of charge for backup for large freeze dryers.
According to international transportation requirements, the transportation of mechanical equipment
does not contain batteries, hazardous chemicals, oil, refrigerants, or any other liquids.
During the warranty period, KEMOLO is responsible for the quality problem or defects caused by machine manufacturing process
or material defects, under normal use and correct maintenance.
Users may also be liable for replacement parts resulting from users’ misuse and negligence of the product. Users are also responsible for:
1. Proper installation, wiring and connecting pipes as related regulations.
2. Correctly use and maintain the equipment according to the user manual. Before starting the freeze dryer, make sure that there is no water in the chamber.
Before starting the vacuum pump (except oil-free vacuum pump), make sure that the vacuum pump has a sufficient amount of clean vacuum pump oil (no water or vapor mixed).
3. The equipment must be operated in a clean area with adequate air circulation and a temperature 1°C-35°C.
If water cooling is used, the cooling water must be clean, and the water temperature should be between 15°C - 30°C.
4. If the equipment operates in high altitude areas, high altitude configurations should be used.
5. User is responsible for damage to the equipment during transportation (EXW, FOB terms), storage or installation.
6. Make sure that the freeze-dried product is completely dry before packaging.
7. Make sure to use a suitable bag. Once the bag is sealed, water or air is not allowed to enter.
8. For products with enzymes, the enzymes should be inactivated before lyophilization.
9. KEMOLO is not responsible for the quality and packaging of freeze-dried products.
10. The user is responsible for personal injury, or economic loss, regardless of the cause.

KEMOLO has full-time after-sales service managers and many after-sales service personnel.
We have a set of normative documents, that is, after-sales service standards and supervision.
1, Working hours, service personnel.
2, Judgment of the problem and submit it to the relevant personnel.
3. Ask for photos, videos and descriptions related to the problem.
4. Answers via WhatsApp, Wechat or email.
5. Give a solution.
6. The parts will be free, if it has quality problem and needs to be replaced in warranty period.
7. If the parts need to be replaced, the cost will be charged if the warranty period is exceeded.
8. If the problem could not be solved online, a technician can be arranged to user’s site for assistance.
All after sales questions are from the first few months after installation, due to the users are not familiar
with the equipment or misuse. After that time, the machine will be running more stable.
9. Report problems to technical department and production department to improve quality.
10. Report problems to the sales department to monitor and improve user satisfaction.
Confidentiality is based on both parties. KEMOLO provides users with confidential files for their own use only.

Without written authorization, KEMOLO’s documents including but not limited to quotation, technical specification, freeze-drying time and energy consumption, energy saving kits, power saving option, investment analysis, user's instruction manual, layout drawing, piping drawing, circuit diagram drawing, principle diagram drawing, 3D drawing, product pictures, and videos are prohibited to send to anybody else or any third parties.

Freeze-drying is a new technology, as requested, to maintain advantage in competition, the user’s information including but not limited to company name, address, factory layout, freeze-drying equipment capacity, freeze-dried products, sales volume, sales price, production recipe, advantages, creative products or related information is highly confidential. Without written authorization, they are prohibited to send to anybody else or any third parties. 
We are looking to recruit partners worldwide. It will be a non-exclusive distribution. Our partners will sell KEMOLO freeze dryers in their local market and provide more localized after-sales service, spare parts storage, and provide users with fast and convenient parts supply and after-sales support.

Partners need to be 100% familiar with KEMOLO freeze dryers, receive training at the KEMOLO factory, and be issued relevant qualification certificates after passing the assessment. Partners need to have a warehouse, not only to store new machines, but also to store accessories, know how to repair and maintain, and know how to develop freeze-dried products and market expansion, so as to help our customers expand their business.
